Jerry, Jim and Steve on the "wheelway" in St. Maarten. You can see the cruise ships in the background.  I am hoping they will get a beach wheelchair or two, so my clients can go into that beautiful, warm, Caribbean water.

A nice area, as you enter the shopping and beach area in St. Maarten to relax after walking or "wheeling " into town. There is an accessible van for transportation.  It can hold two power chairs and has room for ten additional passengers.

See the nice open space for getting around the beach area and some shopping in St. Maarten.  There are tables and chairs, cold drinks, umbrellas and music.

The Tubby II, (as referenced in Gigi's notes on the comments page) is a portable bath, shower and commode chair.  It is height adjustable, with strong suction cups (optional) and can be used with right or left hand entry.  It folds up for travel and easy storage.  There is an optional carrying bag available.  This is available for purchase from Wheelchair Escapes. Dome Hill ( Old Town) in Tallinn Estonia.  An old fortress with beautiful towers, churches and cobblestone streets. Where the old meets the new with lots of history blended in.  An accessible tour took us sight seeing.  We were able to get out and take pictures and do a little exploring.  The churches were not accessible.  The town square was fairly accessible.

These are pictures of the accessible bathroom on American's new 777's.  Remember to make sure they have an aisle chair on board before take off.

Picture to be added soon.

Thanks so much!  My anxiety level was reduced at least four fold by your email.  You replied so quickly.  Appreciate so much your attention to detail.

Your first obstacle when entering St. Petersburg Russia.  This is right outside the customs office.  It is about three inches high.  Easy in a manual chair.  More difficult in a power chair. ( Certainly wouldn't take much to to slope it.)

As we found out on our tour, if you are disabled you either are sent to an institution or it is up to your family to take care of your needs.  There are no accessible cars, taxis or buses in St. Petersburg.  We did have an accessible van for our tours. It pays to plan ahead with a Certified Accessible Travel Specialist.

Our accessible van. There were three wheelchairs users and three care givers a driver and a guide.  Our guide was very knowledgeable and spoke excellent English.

Photo on Left: Cathedral of the Spilled Blood.  Started in the 17th century. Finished in 1907.Many wanted to tear it down because it reminded them of the tzar.  It is such a tourist attraction that they have left it.  It is used mainly for storage.

This is one of the street in Helsinki.  Not all were as challenging.  Some did have curb cuts.
